Animation- Students create their own animated videos using Pivot Stickfigure Animator. Examples are on the class video page. Instructions how to make an animation are on the YouTube video link below. You can download two versions of the Pivot Freeware above.
Board Drafting/SketchUp/Architecture- Students learn basic board drafting techniques (2D Orthographic and learn how to draw 2D and 3D shapes. Students in my class learn about architecture and design their own floor plans.
CO2 Dragsters- Students design a CO2 race car, create a foam mock-up and then build, sand and paint the final race car.
Ping Pong Ball Projectiles- Students are given a ping pong ball and instructed to make a device that both shoots the ball as far as possible but also is accurate at short distances. Students may opt to make a catapult or a trebuchet, or come up with an original design.
Screen Printing- Students design and screen print their own t-shirts. Examples are on the class picture page.
Rockets- Students make and launch their own rocket. Each nose cone is turned on the lathe. During the launch we collect data to take back to the classroom to calculate the speed and height of the rocket during the launch.
Photoshop- Students learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop. The first assignment is to add a fifth face to Mt. Rushmore. An example is on the class picture page.
Music Maker- Students learn how to digital record and create music. There are two links below. Students created a rap song to enter the Red Ribbon Week Contest.
Wood Towers- Students design and build a four-sided tower intended to hold the most weight. Successful towers are shown on the class picture page.
West Point Bridge Designer- Students test their civil engineering skills in designing their own bridge using a budget. WPBD is a freeware and can be downloaded from https://bridgecontest.org/
