FLIP (Flexible Learning Improvement Period) Class is a 25-30 minute daily class that is on the Pass/Fail Grading System.

1. My Story Project
A. Draw a caricature of yourself or a half & half picture of yourself using Microsoft Paint, Google Drawings, or http://site.youidraw.com/
B. Insert this photo into the top portion of a Google Doc. Write an autobiography on the remaining portion of the page about how awesome you are. (You must type 100+ words about yourself) Name this document "YourName.My Story" and share with [email protected]
2. Career Cruising Matchmaker:
A. Go here: http://www.mcps.org/staff/portal
B. Your log in will be the same to check your grades.
Password should be your lunch number.
C. Click on the square with an arrow. Sort of looks like the picture to the left. Click Log-in to Career Cruising.
D. Click on Assessments, and then click on MatchMaker.
Finish all 116 questions, not just the first 39! Show Mr. Cornwell when completed or screen shot your completed activity and email it to [email protected].
3. "What I want to be when I grow up" Presentation.
1) Log into Google using your MCPS email address.
2) In a different internet tab, log into Career Cruising at the same time.

Click on Assessments, and then on one of your saved Matchmaker tests. Select one of the 40 jobs suggested that you would excel doing. Research this career and create a presentation on this occupation. (Use the Career Cruising Program as well as the internet)
3) Create a Google Slides Presentation about what you want to be when you grow up.
You may not select "professional sports player" as a career.
Presentation must be at least 5 slides with at least 5 photos.
4) You must include slides that explain:
A. what career you chose and what your responsibility is for this job.
B. where you can get post-secondary training for this job (where the college is located and how much it costs to attend)
Include 3 college options!
C. the requirements to be accepted into this training program. (What classes should you take in high school to be accepted into this training program)
D. what financial aid is available for you (what scholarships are available to you)
E. what jobs you can earn when you graduate (is there a job you must excel in before you can earn a spot in your dream job?)
F. where in the world are these jobs located and how much the job pays.

7. Learning the 20 Basic Chess Skills and Chess Tournament:
Students earn participation for taking notes on the 20 basic chess skills and for keeping notation for 4 full games of chess vs. classmates of their choice. Worksheets can be downloaded at the bottom of this webpage.
8. Solving the World's LARGEST Problems: Google Slides Presentation- STEM Problem Solving. Select one of the 14 Grand Challenges. Create a 10-15 slide presentation using Google Slides to explain how you might solve one of these problems. Share presentation with [email protected]
9. Menu Design: There are very few restaurants in the Eastern Montgomery area. You will design a menu of your own restaurant that you think would do well in this area. Menus can be made on Microsoft Publisher or Paint. Menus must contain 10 different items (not including drinks). (for example: pepperoni pizza and cheese pizza count as one item...pizza)
10. Lyric Writing:Write your own song lyrics that will be put on our "ALL Flipped OUT" mix CD. Use http://www.audiotool.com/ or http://soundation.com/ to record your song.
11. Movie Writing:Most movies now a days are remakes or based off books. Write a one page movie idea that is completely original. Be creative and keep the rating PG-13 or less.
12. Creating a page of the class coloring book: Create a page of our advanced coloring book. Each student in the class creates their own black and white sheet that would be in a coloring book. Examples
