One current event due per grading period
CTE Competencies met during these quarterly assignments:
13. Demonstrate continuous learning and adaptability.
21. Demonstrate reading and writing skills.
Instructions: Learn about something NEW that you wouldn't learn in school! Do not turn in a report on a topic you are already knowledgeable about.
You will present your ideas to your classmates via a discussion board.
Research the internet and/or the library and find a skill, current event, or knowledge that you want to share with the class. You can share a video, article or website. Look for obscure, fascinating, oddball, humorous, or innovative topics. DO NOT USE mainstream news. Everyone has heard the headlines.
In your post, include the weblink, and explain why this topic is worth sharing about in 200 or more words.
Then politely respond with a critique of TWO of your classmates in 50 + words. Explain how you agree or disagree with your classmates' post. You could pose a question or two, explain how that post makes you feel, or present another link that relates to their post.
You will be graded on your word count. Inappropriate posts will be given a zero grade and a discipline referral.
Your thread is due by Monday morning at 8 AM. Your responses to classmates are due by next Monday at 8 AM.
Remember, your posts are to be written in your own words (or at least proofread your AI response:)):
*Copying and pasting part or all of the article is plagiarism, and you will receive no credit and will not be allowed to make up your work.
