Steps in Making a Coffee Table
1. Making the top. Cut pieces of the top to 37 inches long. The boards glued together should be a width of 22"-28" wide. (Example: 3 pieces of wood cut 37" long by 8" wide each) You could have two 10" wide boards glued to a 6" wide board too.
2. The aprons are 5.5" less than the length and width of your top. Try to find a 5" wide board and cut it to 31.5". We will cut it in half to make the two long aprons 2.5" wide. The short aprons are 5.5" less than your width. If the table is 24" wide, make the aprons 18.5"
3. Block legs- Requires Sandwich gluing.
Try to find two pieces of wood that are 8.5" wide at minimum. Cut two pieces to 24" long. Hand plane one face on each board. Face glue them together in a vise using as many clamps as possible. Pictures shown above.
Assembly will be with pocket holes drilled by the KREG jig.
Parts of the couch table
Top: 14" long and a piece 8" or wider.
Stand: 30" tall and a piece 8" or wider. Preferably the same width as the top.
Base: 18" long and the same width as Stand and Top pieces.
Make sure all three pieces are square!
